In "Kreatur," originally premiered at the Berliner Radialsystem in 2017, Sasha Waltz examines phenomena of existence through the movements of 14 dancers against the backdrop of a fragmented society. The piece delves into themes of power and powerlessness, dominance and vulnerability, freedom and control, community and isolation. The dance emerges from the tensions between beings who share the same living space. Shared experiences of upheaval, ecstasy, and the search for protection fuse the dancers into a single creature, only to dissolve back into individual destinies, forming new conflicts and connections. Within the struggle of these beings with the chaos of their own impulses, the piece reflects the personal and societal challenges of our present time.
